How do I buy objects in the mall? INDEX

1.
First the object must be dropped and set. This happens after an accept list is posted and a Dropper MD has prepared the drop.

2.
Next you find the object you are looking for by either browsing the stores, or if you are looking for a specific item recently dropped, by looking on the drop list to find what store it was dropped in. This list is available from the right frame control panel.

3.
Once you locate the object you wish to purchase you look to see if their are any left in stock. This is found to the right of the price in the purchasable objects tab to the right of your chat window. If any are left in stock and you have enough CCs to purchase the object, you can then right click on the object's name and select either "buy" or "properties".

4.
A new window will pop up stating all the information about the object and you can scroll down and click the "buy" button to purchase it.

How do I move objects in my house? INDEX

1.
First you must drop your object in your home near where you wish for it to be placed by right clicking on it's name on the "My Backpack" tab and choose "drop" from the options given to you on the menu.

2.
Next select the object by right clicking on it or on it's name on the "Public Objects" tab and choose "move" from the options given to you on the menu.

3.
a little window like the one shown here will pop up

4.
the Green Arrows let you move the object vertically, click and drag your mouse over this arrow.

5.
the Red Arrows allow you to move the object horizontally, click and drag your mouse over this arrow.

6.
the Blue Arrows allow you to move your object forward or back, click and drag your mouse over this arrow.

7.
the blue circle allows you to rotate your object, click and drag your mouse over this shape.

8.
the Green checkmark applies your movement of the object, the red X cancels it.

How do I sell objects? INDEX

1.
Once you have an object in your backpack you can sell it. (You can also sell objects from your home) To sell it right click on the object's name in your backpack tab

2.
You can now rename your object.. (###) and [####] can both be removed if you so wish. If you completely delete the name and press the "change" button your object's name will return to the original uploaded object name. Most people like to put their nic and price in the object's name and it's required to do so if you plan to sell the item in either the Black Market or the Flea Market.

3.
Next select what price you wish to sell your object for, the server by default allows you to type in up to 9999ccs if you wish to sell your object for more type <""> in the price field and click the "change" button then return back to the properties page and remove the < from the price field and type in your new price of 10000 or more :)

4.
Finally if you wish to make it so only a specific person can purchase the object put their full, correctly spelled CT nic in the "Buyer" field. Only this person will be able to get the "buy" option.

5.
Once you are done filling in all info press the change button and you will be set to sell the object.

How do I create objects for the mall? INDEX

When trying to create objects for the mall you have basically two choices. You can either get an editor such as Spazz3D or learn VRML. If you want to learn VRML, I suggest Cybertown's World Builder Guild. It has links to great VRML Tutorials that I think are worth looking at.

How do I upload objects to the mall? INDEX

1.
Click on the "Upload" button located to the right of the chat window

2.
First enter the name of the object. Please remember to keep it fairly short or it will be shortened when it's checked.

3.
Next enter the quantity of the object you are uploading. objects 1/50 or less must have all but 5 copies uploaded as a minimum, and objects 1/51 or more the minimum you can upload is 10 copies.

4.
Next enter what price you wish to sell your object for.

5.
Now it's time to select your files for upload, click the browse button to select the WRL file from your hard drive. This file must be smaller then 40kb*.

6.
Next browse your hard drive and select your texture file if applicable to your object. this file must be 20kb* or smaller.

7.
Lastly select from your hard drive the thumbnail image for your object. Again this file needs to be 20kb* or less.

How long before my object is in the mall? INDEX

This could take up to a week depending on how many other objects are uploaded and the number of checkers available. The time period will vary from time to time. Once again this all depending on how many objects are uploaded around the same time yours is.

How do I re-stock my object? INDEX

To re-stock an object, first go to the store that its located in. Once there go to the "Purchasable Objects" tab. Now find your object on this list, once found right-click on the objects name. Now click on the Properties button. Once again a screen should pop-up. If you created this object it should have a Quantity field on it. Type a number value of how many you want to add.

What does the Mall Manager do? INDEX

The main job of the Mall Manager is the co-ordination of the Mall team and its resources, to ensure that The Mall runs as smoothly as possible at all times. The Mall manager has the final word in most areas of Mall operation.

Can you create more stores? INDEX

The Mall staff do not have the tools to add more stores, we can however request that stores be added should the need arise.

Does the mall re-stock objects? INDEX

The mall does not re-stock objects. Only the creator is allowed to do so.

Is there a Drop? Will there be a Drop? Has there been a Drop? INDEX

The quickest way to find out when the last drop was, is to click the information button, and scroll down to see when the MD's last dropped. Posts are ordered by date, but the MD is still named so if you have any questions about a particular drop you know whom to ask. If there hasn't been a drop in a while, the MD's responsible do have other duties and real world lives, but they will be back as soon as they can.

Why isn't there ever a Drop while I am awake? INDEX

Probably because there are 24 time zones on Earth, and no matter when the drop is, someone will always be sleeping. The MD's are doing their best, however, to not always drop at the exact same time. Since they need sleep and have to go to work too, though, there's only so much they can do to vary the times.

Was my Object rejected or accepted? INDEX

After you upload it might take a while before a checker comes in to check all uploaded objects. Usually there are two checks a day. If your object was accepted it will be listed in a post on the accept lists message board. If it was rejected you should have received an inbox stating why. Sometimes CT acts up though, and the inbox might take a while to reach you. If it was rejected you will also get your upload fee back, but this too might take a little while.

Upload limits? Why was THIS object rejected when the other two weren't? INDEX

The current upload limits in the Mall are 2 objects per day, and a maximum of one poster a day. This is to prevent rejections having to be sent out to people because of full stores. Also, if you have uploaded three or more items from a series, you will probably be asked to wait a few days between uploads. Same goes if it's an object where you only change minor details, colours and textures. For these you should wait at least a week between uploads. These limits are subject to change now that we have five more stores.

Why won't my beautiful room or building be accepted? INDEX

Rooms will generally be accepted if they have only three walls or less, and keep to the 10*10 meters size limit. Full-scale buildings on the other hand, should go in the Suburbs or be submitted to the Designer Homes. The Suburbs are tended by the World Builders Guild, and can be found in the Jump Gate menu as can the Designer Homes. Generally, to be accepted to the 'burbs, your world should consist of more than just a room or a house. Add a bit of garden, viewpoints etc. Join the WBG mailing list and/or attend their Saturday meetings, to learn more about this.

Where is my object? I uploaded two hours ago! INDEX

If you just uploaded, the object needs to be checked and accepted first. If it has been accepted, it will be dropped into an appropriate store as soon as there is a Drop. You can find out which store by checking the Drop List Message Board.

I uploaded an object ages ago - where is it? INDEX

If it was accepted it should have been dropped. If you can't find any traces of that happening I suggest you leave an inbox at the mall, asking what might have happened. If you haven't seen it mentioned in an "accepted" post, I suggest you first check your own inbox. If you have received no rejection notice, ask the Mall staff if they got it (again using the Inbox). Sometimes the Upload malfunctions, and you might need to try again.

Why did you remove my object? INDEX

There are several reasons for object removal, but the two you need to know if you're asking that question is a) Your object was sold out and had been in the Mall for more than four days or b) your object had already been in the Mall for 2 months in which case it will be removed, sold out or not. (The other reasons for removal would be a copyright infringement or other such problem, in which case you would be notified, or that you yourself asked for a removal...)

How do I remove one of my objects from the Mall? INDEX

If you wish your item to be removed from the Mall, there is a button called "Remove Requests" on the Mall right frame control panel. Here you name the object and the store it's in, and an MD will remove the item as soon as they can. If your item is sold out and you don't intend to restock it, it is always appreciated if you post a remove request, so that room can be made in the store, for new items. This is especially valuable when your item is sold out before it's been four days in the mall.

How do I upload a free object? INDEX

The minimum price you can set at upload is 10 CCs. If you wish your item to cost less, or be free, drop an inbox to the Mall Staff stating the name of the object and request that they set the price to 0.

How do I restock my object? Do I have to upload it again? INDEX

If your object sells out and is unlimited, you can restock it, and no, you don't have to reupload unless it has been removed. To restock, simply find your object in the Mall, click "properties" and you'll get the option to increase the number of copies. Note that you cannot decrease the number.

How do I make an object? INDEX

You need either to download 3d software (e.g. Spazz3d) or learn to hand code. (It's possible, but slow.) If you download Spazz, there are plenty of tutorials to help you (and Spazz itself contains good help files too). And don't forget to make sure your objects follow the CT object rules, before you upload them.

What is a Rare? How do I make an item a Rare? Can I reupload it later? INDEX

A Rare is an item that is limited to 50 instances or less. To let people know it is a rare, put "1/75" on the thumbnail. If you wish to make sure you can get some instances for yourself, you are allowed to hold back a maximum of 5 instances. Once a Rare has sold the decided number (75 or less), you are not allowed to restock or reupload. To do so, is a punishable offense. For more info check the Mall Rules.

How do I "hold back" copies for my own use? INDEX

If you are uploading a limited item, you can hold back a maximum of five instances. When you upload, put e.g. "70" as the number of instances to upload, instead of "75". Then, when the item has been dropped and all the buyers have left the store where your item is, you click the properties on your item and increase the quantity by 5. Then you can buy those 5 copies yourself. Just remember to never increase the number of copies so that more than the promised number of a rare is uploaded.

What is a Hold? How do I upload a Hold? INDEX

A Hold is an item uploaded "only for you" - It will NOT go on sale in the Mall. The object can be used for a Hood or Colony Event, in which case it'll cost 10 CCs per instance (a CL, CD or NL need to notify the Mall Staff it's for the hood/colony). If you do a private Holds upload, it'll cost 1000 CCs per instance. You can upload a maximum of 10 instances. To upload a hold click on the "Holds" button in the right frame control panel at the Mall.

Copyrighted material? INDEX

Copyrighted material is not allowed in CT (unless it is YOUR copyright). This means that if you didn't make the item or picture yourself, you shouldn't upload it. However, there are "exceptions": free textures from an online free texture site are allowed. Using free textures requires a credit to the provider in the world info of your object. It is also allowed to incorporate free 3d models from the web, IF they constitute only a small part of the object or have undergone significant changes (changing colours or textures does not count as significant).

Why shouldn't I post this on the Message Board? INDEX

There are plenty of things you can post on the Mall Message Board, but there are also some things that is better to place in the inbox. If you have personal questions about a hold, rejection notice or price change, you should always leave an Inbox. If you have a complaint, you should always leave an inbox FIRST. If you are not satisfied with the result, send a private inbox to Mall Manager. If you still have complaints after this, take it further. But there is no point in complaining on the Message Board if you have not even tried to solve the problem the right way, first.

Where can I find...? INDEX

If you are looking for a specific item, you can post a "wanted" message on the Mall and Flea Market Message Boards. You might also want to try the Object Hunters, by leaving an inbox with Megan-Cho. If you do, your request will be posted on "The Wall", which many shoppers and object hunters visit daily. (To leave her a request you need to state what object and what you're willing to pay for it - you also need to notify Megan-Cho when you have found the item.
